The Genuine in You

A person's hands with text of Howard Thurman quote

This weekend I've been pondering these words from the great civil rights leader, Howard Thurman, and I realise this is what I've been searching for most of my life. It has led to a study and appreciation of the great wisdom traditions and also to the works of Nancy Kline, Daisaku Ikeda, and Parker J Palmer where deep listening is a hallmark of their teaching.

Deep listening, to ourselves and each other, creates a space where we can connect with that inner voice that is "the genuine in each of us" and which, in the Buddhist tradition, is the inherent wisdom, compassion and courage that is our buddha nature.
